While working outages, after a thunder boomer, in deep south Georgia years ago.
A fellow lineman and I were working out of a double bucket, pulling up secondarys in drizzling rain. It was about 10:00 pm and we were repairing our last outage. The rain had returned with mild flashes of distant lightning.
We were attempting to finish our work and get out of the approaching storm, when suddenly, the night became illuminated with a flash and an explosion, not more than 200 feet away. Needless to say, we "called off the dogs" and got the heck out of there. One of the guys on the ground said he felt his knees and legs jump.
We were very fortunate that night. Guess the TOP LINEMAN was looking out for us from up above.
